Supplies and Equipment Needed:

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • Store-bought caramel sauce
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • A dash of ginger

For Assembling:

  • 1 package of pre-made pie crusts (2 – 9 inch)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon water

Directions:

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prepare Pie Crusts

  • Unroll the pre-made pie crusts and use a biscuit cutter (3-inch round cutter) to cut out 28 rounds. Reroll scraps as needed and use a rolling pin to achieve the desired thickness.

Create the Filling

  • In a small dish, combine flour, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger.
  • Peel, core, and dice the large apple into tiny pieces.
  • Add the diced apple, dry ingredients, and 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce to the mixture. Mix until well combined.

Assemble the Mini Pies

  • Lay out 16 rounds of pie crust on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water together. Using a pastry brush, brush the egg mixture on the edges of the pie crust rounds.
  • Spoon 1 tablespoon of the apple mixture into the center of each pie round.
  • Top each filled round with another pie crust round.
  • Gently press and seal the edges of the pies using a fork. Repeat this process until all rounds are filled.

Add the Final Touches

  • Using a sharp paring knife, make a small X on the top of each pie.
  • Brush the top of each pie with the egg wash mixture for a golden finish.

Bake to Perfection

  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-23 minutes, or until the mini pies are golden brown.

Drizzle with Caramel

  • Allow the mini pies to cool. If desired, drizzle more caramel sauce over each pie for an extra indulgent touch.
