Cupcake Ingredients:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¾ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup cold brew coffee(I use Califia Farms Medium Roast)
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Frosting Ingredients:
- ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ⅓ cup nutella
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 TBSP heavy cream
- Pinch of salt
Topping Decorations:
1/3 cup milk chocolate melting wafers

Cupcake Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Add cupcake liners to a pan and set aside.
2. Melt the butter and allow to slightly cool.
3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, oil, coffee, egg, buttermilk and vanilla.

4. In another mixing bowl combine dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix together until the batter is fully combined and smooth.

5. Using a 1 Tbsp cookie scoop, scoop 3 Tbsp of mixture into each cupcake liner. Bake for 22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

6. Transfer to a rack and allow to come to room temperature before frosting.

Chocolate Directions:
1. Warm milk chocolate wafers in the microwave in 30 second increments until fully melted and smooth.
2. Transfer to a piping bag with a very fine tip and pipe “X”s and “O”s onto parchment paper. Allow chocolate to set and harden.

Frosting Directions:

1. To make the frosting, add butter to a large mixing bowl.
2. Using a hand mixer, beat on medium high speed for 1 minute. Reduce speed and slowly add in powdered sugar.

3. Pause to scrape the sides of the bowl and add in nutella, cream, vanilla and salt. Continue to mix until frosting is smooth and fluffy.

4. Transfer frosting to a piping bag.

5. Squeeze frosting on your Chocolate Cupcakes after allowing them to cool for at least 30 minutes. Add your “XO” chocolates on top and voilà! Your Chocolate Nutella Cupcakes are done!
