How To Make Melting Snowman Hot Chocolate Bombs
Supplies You’ll Need
- Hot Chocolate Bomb Molds (We love these BPA-free Hot Chocolate Bomb Molds)
- Piping Bags
- Microwave safe bowls
- Frying Pan

Ingredients
- White chocolate chips or candy melts
- Milk hot chocolate mix (This is my favorite as it gives you a creamy texture)
- Dehydrated mini marshmallows
- Dark chocolate chips
- Orange candy melts

TO MAKE THE HOT CHOCOLATE BOMB: Melt the bag of chocolate in the microwave in 30 second increments and stir until smooth.
Fill each cavity of the hot chocolate mold until covered. We like to use the back of a spoon to draw the chocolate up the sides. Allow to set.

Follow up with another layer of melted chocolate around the top edge of each cavity where the two spheres are going to join. A thicker edge is better!

Keep in mind that you don’t want to fill the cavity too full of chocolate (it will try to rest in the bottom) as that means less cocoa mix and marshmallows. Allow to set.
Next, remove the sphere halves from the molds very gently.
Using a WARM frying pan, gently melt the ridge of one sphere.

Fill with drink mix of choice and any marshmallows, if desired. Then take another shell half and place in the frying pan to melt down the edges.

Immediately place this shell on top of the filled half in order to create the seal and join the two halves to make the complete sphere. Gently press along the sides to clean up the seal and remove any excess melted chocolate.
Set to the side as you finish the remaining bombs.
TO DECORATE: Melt the chocolate chips and the orange candy melts. Transfer the melted chocolates to individual piping bags.

Cut a small hole in the end of the chocolate and pipe two larger circles for the eyes and then about 5 smaller circles for the coal mouth. Next, cut a small hole in the end of the orange bag and pipe a triangular shape to form the nose. Allow to set for the chocolate to harden.

Common Questions About Hot Chocolate Bombs
How Do Hot Chocolate Bombs Work?
Hot chocolate bombs are designed to “explode” when hot water or milk is poured over them, as they are hollow chocolate spheres with fillings such as marshmallows and cocoa powder.
You can pour water or milk over them, however, if you prefer a rich hot chocolate flavor, using milk is definitely better.
How Do You Heat Up A Hot Chocolate Bomb
The best way to enjoy a hot chocolate bomb is by heating up 8 to 12 ounce of water or milk. The trick is to slowly pour your water or milk over the hot cocoa bomb and stir thoroughly. Remember, the hotter the liquid, the better the explosion!
