How To Make Paper Ladybug Craft

Ready to make some adorable Paper Ladybugs? Before you get started, make sure you have all the supplies you need. Be sure to grab your free copy of the Paper Ladybug Craft template before you start.

Follow along this step-by-step Ladybug Craft tutorial below and make some of these adorable bugs right now!

List of Supplies:

  1. Colored cardstock papers
  2. Pencil
  3. Craft glue(Use this quick-drying glue to make your movable ladybug wings sturdier)
  4. A pair of scissors
  5. Sharpies
  6. Googly eyes(I recommend the 10mm Googly Eyes for this craft)

Instructions:

Step 1:

Print and cut out template patterns for the ladybug and the moving strip.

Select colored craft papers and trace the patterns on them using a pencil. Cut out the traced patterns using pencil. Take the strip cutout and fold it half, lengthwise.

Step 2:

Fold the closed end of the folded strip to mark the middle point. Next, fold the right side of the closed end from the marked middle point.

Step 3:

Now, fold the left side of the closed end.

Step 4:

Unfold the last 2 folds. The previous folds should leave creases. Fold the left side inwards, along the same crease. Similarly, fold the right side.

Step 5:

Now, we need to fold the strip upwards along the marked line. Fold the strip along the marked line and draw it all the way to the opposite side.

Unfold the entire strip and let’s work on its inner side.

Step 6:

Take the 2 wing cutouts (half-cut round shapes). Notice the square crease with triangle creased parts inside it. We will glue the ladybug patterns on each of these creased parts.

Step 7:

Attach a wing cutout on the middle-right triangle part, keeping the round edge facing up. Similarly, attach the other wing cutout on the middle-left triangle part.

Step 8:

Use sharpies to draw outlines on the 3 other patterns (except for the head cutout) of the ladybug. Attach a teardrop wing cutout on the bottom-right triangle part.

Step 9:

Similarly, attach the other teardrop wing cutout on the bottom-left triangle part.

Step 10:

Now, attach the lower body cutout of the ladybug between the 2 teardrop wings.

Step 11:

Attach the head cutout along the outside of the top straight crease.

Step 12:

Attach googly eyes on the head part. Use sharpie to draw spots on the red wings.

Step 13:

Now, carefully make folds along the creases. Fold the strip neatly along the crease to close the wings of the ladybug. If you pull the strip on both open ends, the ladybug’s wings will open again.
